Shahpura Bagh

The Shahpura Bagh is located at Shahpura; District Bhilwara in Rajasthan. Shahpura Bagh is situated at midway between Jaipur and Udaipur. Shahpura Bagh which is literally translates to “the garden of Shahpura”. The property has two residential bungalows with a dedicated area set aside for cultivation, the produce of which feeds the staff and the guests of the property including the Royal family.Shahpura Bagh was the summer residence of the rulers of Shahpura.The 30-acre estate was granted by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to Rajadhiraj Suraj Mal, Rana Pratap's grandson in 1630 AD for successful military campaigns against the Marathas and Afghans.Shahpura Bagh is an oasis of natural grandeur.

In the 1920's, Rajadhiraj Nahar Singh of Shahpura mortgaged the family's private property and jewels to bring water to his people. Shahpura Bagh makes a great stopover for those who want to discover the rural way of life that lies in between.The 120 year old property was converted in recent years into a boutique heritage hotel with a very personal touch the descendants of the former rulers of Shapura still live here in part of their old summer residence. It is surrounded by lakes and gardens the 45 acre estate is a little oasis in Rajasthan’s dry hills and plains and guided excursions to nearby villages, walks to ancient temples and ruined forts and bird watching give an authentic insight into life in the countryside. Additional activities such as yoga, table tennis, cycling and fishing can also be arranged.
