Jaisalmer Fort

The Jaisalmer fort is very large and beautiful fort situated in the city Jaisalmer. It was built by Bhati Rajput in the year 1156 A.D who was the ruler of Rao Jasial. It is located on the highest point of the Trikuta hill. This fort is built by large yellow sandstones.
The Jaisalmer fort is also known as the Golden Fort or Sona Quila. Jaisalmer foet is Second oldest fort after Chittorgarh fort in Rajasthan.The major attractions in this fort include The Raj Mahal, Jain Temples, Lakshminath Temple and the 4 massive gateways.The entire population of the city lived inside the fort. The fort represents various merchant haveli’s which was built by the wealthy merchants of Rajasthan. The haveli’s contains many floors and countless rooms, with decorated windows which are known as jharokhas, doors and balconies.

Most of the Haveli’s have been turned into museums. The fort also has an effective drainage system that allows easy drainage of rainwater from the fort in all four directions. The fort is considered to be the most breath taking monuments in human history. The Jaisalmer fort has a beautiful architectural design. The best time to visit Jaisalmer fort is in the month of October to March.
