Jaigarh Fort,Jaipur

Jaigarh Fort is located about 14km from Jaipur above the Amer Fort which is called as ‘Cheel ka teela’. It was built by the Kachwaha Rajput in the year 1726. The Jaigarh Fort has more or less same structure as of Amer Fort and also provide some excellent views of the Jaipur city and the Amer fort. The main highlights of the Jaigarh Fort is the Jaivana which is world largest cannon wheels. This fort has a lot of wide water channel, which were a part of rainwater harvesting system. There are three underground tanks at the fort. Inside the fort there is the armoury and the museum. The armoury in the fort has various swords, shields, guns, muskets. You can also see the old photography of two Maharaja’s of Jaipur. The most interesting part of the fort is Shubhat Niwas which was the meeting hall of warriors.

The entrances fees for Jaigarh Fort is 10 for Indian tourists and 20 for foreign tourists. The best time to visit is at the month of October to February.


Jaigarh Fort can be travel by air. The nearest airport is Sangneer Airport in Jaipur at the distance about 11km.

Jaipur is also connected by rail from all other major cities. The tourists can also travel on luxurious Palace on Wheels.

Buses are available from all major cities like Gujarat, Delhi and Mumbai.
