Jag Mandir, Udaipur

Jag Mandir is one of the famous fort and palace in Kota. This Palace was built on an island in the Lake Pichola which is called as ‘Lake Garden Palace’. It is located in city Udaipur and it is situated in one of the two natural islands in the Pichola lake on its southern end. Visitor can be approached only by boat from the Bansi Ghat jetty next to the Lake Palace in Udaipur. This palace is name in honour of the last king of the Mewar dynasty named Maharana Jagat Singh. The palace is located in the middle of Kishor Sagar lake, which offer wonderful view of the surrounding areas in visitors.

The palace is built in the finest yellow sandstone with the interiors of inlaid designs in onyx, jasper and agate. At the entry of the palace there are four statues of elephants, located on the either side of the jetty. The domed pavilion is coloured with grey blue. In Jag Mandir , Gul Mahal is the major tourist attraction as this is the place where Prince Khurram lived with his family and this mahal is known for its typical Islamic style of architecture and has preserved some elegant Mughal paintings and murals. The Pavilion of Gul Mahal is beautified with Muslim crescents and interior are richly done. It is also famous for museum which will tell you everything about history of the island and its collection explored the people.

In museum you can also find the artifects which was used by the king and the royal family members. Jag Mandir also has a beautiful garden with different trees and flowers along with the ancient fountains.


Jag Mandir can be reach by rail as the nearest station is Udaipur. Some important train connections are 9643 Express (Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jaipur-Ajmer-Chittougrah-Udaipur)

Udaipur has its own Airport named as Maharana Pratap Airport which is situated at a distance of 22Kms from the main city. Airport is well connected to major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Jaipur. After that you can hire taxis.
