Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Dargah of Sufi saint is located at the city Ajmer in the state of Rajasthan.The Dargah of Moinuddin Chisti is placed at the northern plinth of the Taragarh mount. The Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti is one of the most popular Darghas not only in the state of Rajasthan but also throughout the nation. The holy Dargah Sharief in Ajmer is the second most important pilgrimage after Mecca and Medinafor the Muslims all over the world. Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti is also known by different names as, Khawaja Gharib Nawaz, “Sultan-Ul-Hind”, Khwaja Baba, Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Ajmeri, Khwaja Sahib, Khwaja Saheb, Khwaja Ajmeri Saint Moinuddin Chishty. The Dargah Khawaja Gharibnawaz ( R.A) has several tombs, buildings, Daalaans and courtyards are made in the form of Mughal architecture.This Ajmer Sharif also has a Dargah which dwells the crypt of Saint Moinuddin Chisti.
The entrance of the Dargah was constructed by “H.E.H. Nisam Usman Ali Khan” from Hyderabad. The Ajmer Sharif also boasts a “Naqqar Khana” that means Drum House which has 2 naqqars that were gifted by Mughal emperor Akbar during one of his triumph. The gateway to the Dargah is basically through the Dargah Bazaar. This leads to the internal patio. The gateway has beautifully craved silver doors. There are 2 gigantic cauldrons with capacity of 2240 kg & 4480 kg in the patio. The tombstone of the Sufi Saint is surrounded by a silver fence and is partly enclosed with a marble screen.Besides Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti’s Dargah there are several other monuments of historic interest located within the Dargah Sharief compound. In a year nearly 40000 people visit Ajmer Sharif to pay reverence at the sanctified Dargah. A yearly carnival known as Urs will be held for 6 days to honor the bereavement of Moinuddin Chisti which pulls hundreds of visitors to the Ajmer Dargah Sharif. Devotees bestow chadars at the mosque on the fulfillment of their desires. A devotee can also come across Qawwals singing the songs of eulogizes of the saints.
