Galtaji Temple

The Galtaji Temple is located only 10km away from Jaipur in Rajasthan. The temple was built in the 18th century by Diwan Rao Kriparam a courtier of Sawai Jai Singh II. This temple is a pre-historic Hindu pilgrimage site. Galtaji temple is situated at a stone's throw from Sisodia Rani-ka Bagh on Agra Road. The galtaji temple is dedicated to Lord Sun. The temple is famous for its natural fresh water springs and 7 holy 'kunds' ie. water tanks. Among these kunds, the 'Galta Kund', is the holiest one andmost of the people believe that this kund never get dry. Apart from the kunds, there are alsothe temples of Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and Lord Hanuman situated inside the temple complex.The temple is constructed with rounded roofs, exquisitely carved pillars and painted walls. Out of all other temples in the complex, the Hanuman temple stands out, being surrounded by hundreds of monkeys.

The structure of this temple is built in pink sandstone, amidst low hills, and the temple is designed in such a way that it looks more like a palace rather than a traditional temple. The temple has a back-drop of gorgeous landscape featuring lush green vegetation, and offers a fascinating view of the city of Jaipur. This temple is famous for the many tribes of monkeys that dwell in this area. The Galtaji Temple is located in the Aravalli hills and it is surrounded by dense trees and bushes. You can visit this temple at the time of ‘Makar Sankranti’. On this time large crowd of visitors come here to take a dip in the holy kund.
